Dubai, Sep 3 - Injured Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin will be replaced by Tim Paine while West Indies' Kevin Mclean will come in the side in place of Darren Powell for the Champions Trophy in South Africa later this month.
International Cricket Council's (ICC) event technical committee confirmed the two changes here Thursday.
McClean, a 21-year-old all-rounder from Barbados, has not played international cricket but has appeared in 13 first-class matches in which he has scored 291 runs at an average of 20.78. He has bagged 39 wickets at an average of little over 20 with his best figures being 5-49.
Paine, a 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman from Tasmania played his only ODI for Australia against Scotland last month and is part of the squad for the forthcoming series against England which starts at The Oval on Friday. In 31 first-class matches, Paine has scored 1,611 runs at an average of a little under 41 and has dismissed 87 batsmen behind the wickets.
The West Indies open their campaign against Pakistan, Sep 23 while at The Wanderers while Australia will launch its title defence against the West Indies at same venue, Sep 26.
