Abu Dhabi, Sep 2 - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) are exploring joint initiatives under the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) launched in 2004 to promote long-term global and regional security, WAM news agency reported.
Towards this, a meeting was held between UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Mohammed Gargash and ICI head Nicola de Santis.
Gargash and the visiting NATO official exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, including efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East.
The UAE-NATO cooperation is meant to advance the peace process in the Middle East and to fight terrorism.
