New Delhi, Sep 2 - A Delhi Police constable posted with the family of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the capital died after he was hit by a speeding call centre car here, police said Wednesday.
'The accident took place around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday near Akbar Road area. Yashpal, 39, who was posted in the security unit with Omar Abdullah's family, was hit by a speeding car. After this, the car fled from the spot,' a senior police officer said.
'Yashpal sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The constable, who was recruited in Delhi Police in 1991, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The vehicle is of a call centre in Gurgaon. The driver has been identified but is absconding. Efforts are on to nab him,' the police officer added.
