New Delhi, Aug 27 - India will be the guest country at the Moscow Book Fair to be held in the Russian capital Sep 2-7, the National Book Trust said Thursday.
An India pavilion spread over 1,000 sq mt will be the highlight of the fair, along with an exhibition of 100 books on Mahatma Gandhi, including some written by the father of the nation, an NBT statement said.
The Indian pavilion will feature more than 1,000 new titles published in 21 languages during 2007-09 by 100 publishers, an author's delegation of 15 eminent writers and Russian translations of 10 books printed by the National Book Trust.
The India Pavilion at the Moscow Book Fair is part of the Year of India in Russia, 2009, being celebrated under an understanding between the governments of the two countries.
Majority of the titles displayed are first editions in their original language, while many others were translated or re-issued during the period. The titles will be compiled in seven catalogues.
