Raipur, Aug 25 - In a bid to save energy, the Chhattisgarh government Tuesday asked offices and factories to install devices that consume less power.
In a government notification, it instructed consumers in the private sector with monthly power consumption of over 30 kilowatt (KW) or monthly bill of over Rs.50,000 to install energy saving equipment by Sep 30.
It has also asked central and state government offices and public sector undertakings to install such devices.
'If the establishment failed to implement the order, the state-run Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company would be entitled to serve a notice and disconnect the power connection,' the notification said.
The consumers have been asked to replace the equipment at their own cost.
The state government has suggested replacing electric bulbs with compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and use energy saving tube-lights and fans in offices. It also asked the establishments to replace magnetic choke regulator with electric ones.
