New Delhi, Aug 21 - The national capital will soon see clean walls free of dirty handbills and posters - the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Friday announced that it would launch a drive against defacement of public property and walls starting Monday.
Municipal Commissioner K.S. Mehra said: 'Municipal Corporation of Delhi is launching a drive against defacing of walls from Monday and observe the day as 'Poster Free Day'.'
The campaign, Mehra said, was launched 'to make the city look clean and beautiful ahead of the Commonwealth Games scheduled in October 2010'.
Interestingly, there is a reason behind the timing of MCD's defacement drive.
