New Delhi, Aug 10 - The husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor told a city court Monday that he did not know Raj Kumar Wazirchand Vazirani, a Mumbai resident, who was arrested for demanding Rs.50 crore from him in 2005.
Sanjay Kapur was recording his statement before the court in the four-year-old extortion case in which Vazirani allegedly sent him a threatening email demanding Rs.500 million.
'I received an email on Aug 25, 2005, in which a demand for Rs.50 crore was made from me. The email also asked me not to harass my wife Karisma with whom I was having litigation at that time,' Kapur said.
Recording his statement in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja, Kapur said he had informed the Delhi Police about the email.
In his cross-examination, Kapur denied he had known or ever met Vazirani, who was arrested by the Delhi Police five days after the incident.
