London, Aug 9 (DPA) Formula One World champion Lewis Hamilton is excited about the prospect of racing against Michael Schumacher but not afraid of the record trophy winner.

'Coming in at this part of the season, Michael is at a disadvantage because he hasn't had the same experiences as everyone else,' Hamilton told the Mail on Sunday paper.

But he also said: 'I am excited by the possibility of Michael's return to Formula One.

'He is one of the sport's greatest competitors - a legend - and it will be an honour and a privilege to race against him. The whole world will be watching his return to the cockpit. I haven't spoken to Michael - but I look forward to seeing him on the track.'

Hamilton and Schumacher have never raced against each other as the Briton made his F1 debut at McLaren-Mercedes in 2007, the year after Ferrari's Schumacher retired with seven world titles.

Now, pending medical examinations, Schumacher is set to return at the European Grand Prix August 23 to take the place of Felipe Massa, who is recovering from head injuries sustained in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The 2008 world champion Hamilton got his first season win in Hungary which only adds to his confidence for the next races.
