Chandigarh, Sep 25 - Police Friday seized 7.8 kilograms of heroin, worth Rs.35 crore, from two places in Punjab and arrested three people, said the officials.
In the first seizure, police of the border district of Gurdaspur, around 250 km from here, seized five kg of heroin and arrested two smugglers.
'We have recovered five-kg heroin that is worth Rs.25 crore in the international market. We laid a trap after a tip-off and arrested Tasbeer Singh whereas his accomplice Balbir Singh managed to flee,' said a police official.
However, Balbir met with an accident while fleeing and he was admitted in a hospital.
'Both Tasbeer and Balbir are notorious criminals and they were wanted by police in many cases.
