New Delhi, Sep 25 - Delhi High Court Friday asked the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to send two water tankers daily to a locality in the eastern part of the national capital that has not got any supply for almost three months.
The court was hearing a public interest petition filed by Surendra Sharma, a resident of Mohalla Ganga Ram in Shahdara. He pleaded before the court that there has been no water supply in his area for the last 87 days.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Manmohan directed DJB to provide water tankers on a daily basis to the residents till a permanent solution can be found to the problem.
The chief engineer of DJB in his report said that the locality's water woes will take time to end as reservoirs may have to be built to ensure proper supply.
