New Delhi, Sep 24 - A 41-year-old man of Nepali origin has been arrested here for kidnapping an 18-month-old son of his business partner and demanding a ransom of Rs.100,000, police said Thursday. The child has been rescued safely.
Choplal Pandey, a native of Nepal who has been living in Delhi for the past 20 years, was arrested for kidnapping the child of his business partner Kishan Pandey. They both are in a business of manpower supply.
Kishan Pandey's wife reported to police that Choplal Pandey kidnapped their son Vishal from their house when she went for a bath after dinner Wednesday.
Her husband was out of town and her two other sons were also not present in the house at the time of incident.
A case was registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station. Police said Choplal demanded a ransom of Rs.100,000 to be delivered near the railway crossing at Holambi Kalan in outer Delhi.
'He was arrested when he came to collect the money and the child was rescued,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police (west Delhi) Sharad Aggarwal.
