Allahabad, Sep 24 - A senior Uttar Pradesh police official was injured when a bullet fired by his drug addict son during a brawl hit him in the head Wednesday night here, police said.
The shooting occurred around 11.30 p.m.
Deputy Superintendent of Police S.P. Chaudhary received a bullet injury in his head and was rushed to a private hospital.
However, Chaudhary was discharged late Thursday afternoon after the doctors kept him under a watch overnight. 'Initially, due to excess bleeding, it appeared that the bullet pierced his head, but luckily it only brushed his skull without any serious damage,' Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. Vijeta told IANS over phone.
Chaudhary's son Rajesh, a drug addict, entered into a brawl with his uncle, a head constable, Wednesday night. While other family members tried to pacify him, he pulled out a countrymade weapon and fired at his uncle, Vijeta told IANS Wednesday.
