Islamabad, Sep 23 (Xinhua) Two militant commanders have been arrested in the Swat region of northwestern Pakistan during an operation of security forces, a media report said Wednesday.
The security forces arrested extremist commanders Fazl Haq and Rasool Khan in the Charbagh tehsil of the Swat region, the private GEO News TV said.
The report also said the locals from Kabal tehsil area of Damghar in Swat have formed a militia to fight the extremists.
Swat's markets were still crowded on the third day of Eid festival which started Sep 21.
About 1,700 militants have been killed since Pakistani security forces launched the operation against Taliban militants late April after the militants entered the Buner district in early April.
