Srinagar, Sep 23 - Two Pakistani terrorists and two Indian security personnel were killed in a 24-hour gun battle in a north Kashmir village that ended Wednesday evening, an official said.
Police identified the terrorists as Pasha and Musa, both working with Hizbul Mujahideen.
Troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir police had moved into Banyari area of Bandipore district Tuesday evening following a tip-off about the presence of militants there, Superindent of Police (Bandipore) Sheikh Junaid told IANS.
'A search party came under heavy firing from the militants' hideout, triggering an encounter (gunfight), which ended only at 5.15 p.m. today,' the official said.
A major of the Rashtriya Rifles and his security guard were killed in the gun battle and three troopers were wounded, he added.
