New Delhi, Sep 22 - The Election Commission has asked the directors general of police (DGPs) and principal secretaries (home) of Maharashtra and Haryana - where elections are scheduled next month - and also of their adjoining states to make 'foolproof arrangements' for ensuring peaceful and free and fair polls'.
The poll panel held a meeting Saturday with the DGPs and home secretaries of Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa and Daman to review preparations, the Election Commission said in a release here Monday.
'The DGPs and home secretaries were asked to arrange inter-district meetings for sharing intelligence and also for sharing of list of anti-social elements and monitoring their movements,' said the release.
