New Delhi, Sep 22 - A couple from Africa and an Afghan national have been arrested in the capital for dealing in cocaine, police said Tuesday.
Sleuths of the Narcotics Cell arrested Tonito De Silva, 30, his wife Salaw Volanlu, 29, and the Afghan national identified as Asadullah near 3D cinema in Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi Monday.
'Volanlu was arrested when she was handing over 20 gm of cocaine to Asadullah. When Asadullah was searched, 30 gm more cocaine was recovered,' said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sanjay Tyagi.
The police said Silva hails from Guinea Bissau and came to India about three years back. He was earlier living in Mumbai and shifted to Delhi about one-and-half years ago. The couple was living in Uttam Nagar area.
Asadullah came to India in 1996 and claimed to be a registered refugee with the United Nations. His brother Naqibullah has been arrested thrice in drug-related cases.
