Shimla, Sep 21 - An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted the hills of Himachal Pradesh Monday, officials said.
'An earthquake of moderate intensity hit the hill state at 3.14 p.m. It measured 4.7 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was Uttarkashi in neighbouring state Uttarakhand,' meteorological office director Manmohan Singh told IANS.
He said the tremors were felt for a few seconds only.
However, there is no report of any loss of life and major damage to property.
Himachal Pradesh was last hit by quake of moderate intensity July 17 this year. The quake measured 4.8 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was Holi and Bharmour region in Chamba district.
However, the tremors were only felt in the Chamba district, adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, and upper Kangra district.
