Rupnagar (Punjab), Sep 18 - Rupnagar district of Punjab Friday became the first district in the country to have a 'district scheme monitoring system (DSMS)' to regularly gauge the progress on work on various developmental projects, officials said.
'This system will work as eyes and ears for the district administration to regularly monitor the progress of development works and schemes. The projects which would be monitored include both central as well as state sponsored schemes,' said Priyank Bharti, deputy commissioner of Rupnagar, after launching the scheme.
'In order to evaluate the progress of each project on a monthly basis, the entire work would be computerised and monthly details along with photographs will be reguarly stored in the system,' he added.
Some of the schemes that will be scrutinized through DSMS are Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), Rojgar Yojna (RY), Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA).
