New Delhi, Sep 17 - Around 13.05 lakh railway employees will get productivity-linked bonus, equivalent to 75 days of their wages, for 2008-09, the government said Thursday.
The decision, taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday, will cost the government Rs.889 crore.
The beneficiaries of the bonus are non-gazetted employees of the railways.
However, the employees of the Railway Protection Force and Railway Protection Special Force will not get the bonus, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
The wage calculation ceiling prescribed for the bonus is Rs.3,500 per month.
