Jakarta, Sep 17 (DPA) Indonesia's most wanted Islamic militant, Noordin Mohammed Top, was among four people killed in a raid on a house in Central Java province, the country's police chief said Thursday.
Police besieged the suspected safe house before midnight Wednesday after arresting two people hours earlier.
Four alleged militants were killed and a pregnant woman who was with them was seriously wounded in ensuing gunfire and explosions, police said.
'Yes, yes,' national police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri said when asked by reporters if Noordin was among those killed.
Noordin was blamed for the July 17 bombings at two Jakarta hotels, which killed nine people and for other deadly attacks in Indonesia since 2003.
