Ghaziabad, Sep 17 - The disfigured bodies of an unidentified couple who appear to have been brutally murdered have been found in a forest area in this satellite town of the capital, police said Thursday.

The bodies of the couple, apparently in the 25-30 age group, were found in the Nithora forest area in Loni late Wednesday.

Police said both had been possibly murdered after strangulation. The bodies were naked below the waist and there were signs of torture on the woman. Eyewitnesses at the site said the faces had been burnt with acid to hide their identities.

'We are now trying to trace the identities of the victims and exact cause of death can be ascertained only after the post-mortem details are received,' Superintendent of Police (city) Rahul Yadvendu said.
