Washington, Sep 17 (DPA) A US court Wednesday set a Nov 20 execution date for sniper John Allen Muhammad who terrorised suburban Washington in 2002.
Muhammad however can still appeal to the US Supreme Court and Virginia Governor Tim Kaine for a stay, the Virginia judge said.
For three weeks in 2002, he along with 16-year-old accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo shot and killed 10 people and wounded six others in a series of random attacks in and around Washington. Before they began their Washington killing spree, the men also killed six people in Alabama and Louisiana.
Muhammad has been awaiting execution since 2004. Malvo is serving a life sentence.
