Dubai, Sep 14 - India have moved back to second position in the Reliance Mobile ODI Championship table following their 46-run victory over Sri Lanka in the Compaq Cup tri-series final at Colombo Monday.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team had briefly enjoyed top spot in the team rankings after beating New Zealand earlier in the series but within 24 hours it had slipped to third position after losing to the home side. The same day Australia beat England by seven wickets at Lord's to sneak ahead into second position.
But India got back to within a single ratings point of South Africa and with just two points separating first from third in the table.
Australia could go on top of the rankings if they manage a clean sweep against England. Already 4-0 up in the seven-ODI series, Ricky Ponting's team will nudge ahead of the Proteas if they win the fifth and sixth matches but will need to win the last one as well to stay there.
